| | | | | | | | | | | Across the globe around 1 billion people are without access to clean water. Global Ethics was set up in 2004 to try to address this issue by selling bottled water, the proceeds of which go to its charitable division, The One Foundation, to fund clean water projects around the world.
WDF has partnered The One Foundation since 2006, selling One bottled water, the proceeds of which funds the installation of its innovative PlayPumps. These are unique water pumping systems which use children’s roundabouts to draw fresh, clean water from deep underground into storage tanks for use by entire communities. WDF makes a further donation to The One Foundation for every bottle of One water or branded, reusable jute bag sold to a customer in its stores.

| | | | In September 2009, WDF achieved the milestone of
funding its 50th PlayPump in Africa; this coincided with a special
project involving sending eight of its employees to help refurbish a
village in South Africa and to oversee the installation of the
PlayPump. WDF has run several educational trips for its staff since its
work with The One Foundation began; through this scheme, employees get
to see first hand the fantastic work One does and to find out about how
WDF and its customers are making a difference to the lives of
many thousands of people in need of clean water.
WDF and its customers
are now funding one PlayPump every week. Customers can purchase One
water and jute bags in any of WDF’s tax and duty free stores under the
World Duty Free, Biza and Alpha Airport Shopping brands, in airports
across the UK. For locations please click here.
